Experience the Rewards of Becoming a Volunteer

Nehalem Bay Fire & Rescue needs more volunteer firefighters to help protect our homes, neighborhoods, and communities.

As a volunteer firefighter, you'll learn invaluable skills while serving your community and making a positive impact on those around you.

Our volunteers conduct training every Wednesday evening and hold additional trainings for our technical rope team and water rescue team.

An annual spring Fire Academy for new incoming firefighters is held between March-May with firefighters graduating from the Academy with Firefighter 1, Wildland Type 2 and CPR.

Many go on to pursue additional EMS Certifications such as Emergency Medical Responder (EMR), Emergency Medical Technicians,  Advanced Emergency Medical Technicians (AEMT) and even Paramedicine.

Who can join?

  • High School graduate or GED.

Not able to be a firefighter, but still want to volunteer?

We believe that there is a role for individuals that are willing to devote their time and efforts to volunteer with our organization.

For some, the physical demands of firefighting may not be in the cards, which is why we encourage individuals to explore volunteer organizations such as our partners at Emergency Volunteer Corp of Nehalem Bay who have wide variety of volunteer opportunities.
